Re: Project: Hutch, a Qmicra v2 gets water
Man, you must have caffeine flowing direct to the brain pan processor. Wonderful project, but I'm thinking "where's he finding the time?". The wheels must just turn 24/7. What ever it is, keep er go'n fella! Masterful bends, great cuts .... please tell me how you got the top sheet paper peeled and placed? I gotsta know how you got it on straight with those bends and without bubbles and creases. Your freaking me out here....... The bar keeps getting higher

Lol, if you only knew how long I was working on this project...
The top paper was just a blank sheet of transparent label. It's used for printing addresses on and such, then you cut them out and stick them on envelopes. I find that it's great for modding as well. It keeps things straight!

Yes, I know it's a label. A big label. On straight. In and out of bends. No bubbles. No creases. .. God help me I've gone mad! lol As you may have noticed I'm addicted to the site now. I didn't really consider SFF in my ideas. Ahh the things another day can shed light on. Took a look at the L.O.S.I.A.S project and 'bout crapped my pants when I saw that screen. I've been trying to find something like that to build a simple ROG monitor station. Apples ipad's to big, phones are just to small. Ever tried to read the little cute lcd screen on one of those logitech keyboards? Blaa. Anyhow, hope all is well with you and looking forward to so much more here!

Re: Project: Hutch, a Qmicra v2 gets water
Gotcha, yeah, it's just a matter of being patient and precise. Luckily I've got pretty steady hands. Haha, I'm glad you are enjoying the site! All of us here love good builds no matter the size, but we also love the challenge of SFF. It just requires a little extra thinking, and a little extra planning, but it's all worth it in the end.
Lol, I'll take a near crapping as a compliment! If you like the L.O.S.I.A.S. project, then I can't wait until you read the log on the Rogue... If you're looking for a cheap and easy screen, your best bet right now is a USB screen from a company like Mimo. They are much cheaper than the Xenarc screen I used, and have the benefit of using USB. It would have saved me from using a USB video card, but I didn't have a choice at the time.

Re: Project: Hutch, a Qmicra v2 gets water
Hey Craig!
Beenreading this log since this afternoon and I just wanted to say that I really admire your mind man! All that thinking and planning that always results in pure genius and the attention to detail in your work is mind blowing! Also you logs make for good reading and are very detailed and easy to understand! I0ll take me a while to get through all of them but I just wanted to express my admiration for your work.
Anyways I really like what you did to this case and especially the Reservoir part! I'm looking forward to see it all finished up!
Regards,
Wolfskin07

Re: Project: Hutch, a Qmicra v2 gets water
Thanks mate! That means a lot to me! I really try and follow through on the details. That's something that has always been pretty important to me, and I've always hoped my work shows it.

Great Scott! How big is this thing gonna be? That's just the bottom?! Optical delusion perhaps

Lol, it's not that big. In the video I was just cutting out the bottom of a new reservoir.

Re: Project: Hutch, a Qmicra v2 gets water
HxWxD" or mm? Looked like a fairly long path you where cutting. I made through a bit over five minutes of the video and was thinking somethings wrong. I went to check the specs on that cnc's table size. Made an eye examination appointment this morning. First new glasses, then to walmart for new shorts!

Re: Project: Hutch, a Qmicra v2 gets water
Okay everyone, how about a real update? In fact, how many of you even completely forgot about this project? Haha, well, I'm going to remedy that. When I last left off, I had the reservoir finished, and was ready to move on to other minutia. Between that time and now, I decided to slightly modify the reservoir and build a new one with the help of my Romaxx CNC machine. Check out the cutting of the bottom layer here. With the bottom layer cut, I had to tap a couple of holes for G 1/4 Bitspower fittings. To simplify the process I put the tap in my drill press, and manually turn to tap. It keeps the tap completely vertical, and allows for precise cutting. Perfect fit! Sitting in place... Now comes one of my least favorite parts... polishing... With the reservoir issues taken care of, it's now time to work on tube routing. Due to the reservoir's minimal height, a T-line is needed for filling the system. This is approximately where I'll be putting it. Another update is coming soon!

Awesome! I know that sanding and polishing was quite a bit of effort. Really looking forward and excited to the end of this project!

Re: Project: Hutch, a Qmicra v2 gets water
Well at least I know how big the res is now. Have you measured how much it'll hold? Should look sweet with the design you cut on the top shell! Yup, been awhile so I took the time to go back over the log It's all good! BTW what did you use to braze alum with?
