Post [RESOLVED] Login Driving Me Insane!
So I realize I'm new here and I've already found a bug..hopefully my end rather than yours.

Normally when I visit a forum I login, click view new posts and then open each new topic in a new tab and then I can post in each one after I've read. On here I have to relogin on each page (sometimes more than 4 times) just to post a reply.

I'm using Firefox 3.6 and have no problems on any other forum.

Any clues?

Edit had to login 7 times to post this, got stuck in a loop where it says you need to login / login successful / need to login.

Really? I've been having the same problem with FF 3.6 as well. I was going to look for a fix, but didn't realize others were having the same issue. I'll point Hutch in here and see if he has any ideas.

(And no, switching browers isn't the answer... :D )

I think it just has to do with using a default cookie. I'll look into it in 10minutes

Odd, I wasn't having a problem until about 2 weeka ago (before the host change). I can't log in to the ACP either in FF. With IE I have no issues.

Right folks, should be all sorted.

I recommend clearing your cache

In firefox:

Tools > Clear Recent History > Drop down menu choose "Everything" > Check "Cookies" and "Cache"

Bah, we'll see if we can get it sorted. Is it specific to just Firefox? Does it work in IE?

Hmmm what is this IE that you speak of...:p

Gah so it works perfectly in IE 8 (although much slower than FF). Posted in a few places and all seems fine (well apart from having to use yucky IE)

Post Re: Login Driving Me Insane!
Lol, I figured so. I've actually got the same problem at home on FF, and it doesn't seem to be a forum issue exclusively. As I've only ever had the issue on the one PC, and I run either FF or Chrome on all my others without issue. So, there is something in our FF configuration that is causing issues, and I'm not sure what it is yet. Hutch can't seem to replicate it either, so it may come down to me poking around in my own FF settings until I find a fix. I'll not have a chance to do that until Sunday night though. I'll keep you updated.

Good idea. I've thought about just copying the user files from one of working installs and seeing if that fixed the issue.

Post Re: Login Driving Me Insane!
I just thought I'd post my fix for this issue in case anyone is still having a problem.

Assuming you are using a fair amount of extensions, the easiest thing to do to is download the following.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2109/

It's an extension for backing up all extensions. It's pretty slick in it's own right, and will allow you to backup and restore all installed extensions at once. So, go ahead and do a backup to a folder of your choosing. Inside will be all the extension .xpi files.

Are you using a program like Xmarks to sync bookmarks and logins? If not, it's a great time to install it.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2410/

If not, you'll want to backup your bookmarks before moving on. Once that is done, you are ready to uninstall Firefox. During the uninstall it will ask if you want your profile deleted. Select yes and continue. Once it is uninstalled, reinstall using the latest version of Firefox. Then install the FEBE extension. Do a restore, and you can select all the .xpi's at a single time. This will install everything you had prior (including Xmarks if you had it). Xmarks will then resync your bookmarks and passwords, and you are set!

This is only about a 5 minute procedure, and will fix the problem completely.
